Install the Tally connector (Agent)
Download it, install it on the computer that runs TallyPrime, and connect it. Includes what to do if Windows blocks it.
Before you start
- Use the Windows computer that runs TallyPrime and holds your company data.
- Open TallyPrime with your company open. Switch the gateway on, port 9000 (in TallyPrime: F1 Help, Settings, Connectivity). The setup window tells you if it cannot reach Tally.
- Use only one TallyPrime window. The connector reads the window that has the gateway switched on.
- You need to be an Administrator on that Windows computer.
Install and connect
- In FactoryPulse AI, open Settings, then Tally connection, then the Computers tab, and click Download for Windows.
- Open the downloaded file and accept the Windows permission prompt, then click Install.
- At the end, leave Set up the FactoryPulse Agent now ticked and click Finish. The setup window opens (you can also open it later from the Start menu: FactoryPulse Agent Setup).
- Click Test Tally, choose your company, and click Next.
- Back in FactoryPulse AI, click Generate pairing code. Paste the code into the setup window and click Finish. A code works once and lasts 10 minutes.
If Windows or your browser blocks the file
The installer is new and does not yet carry a Microsoft publisher signature, so some computers show a warning. This is expected. Only continue if you downloaded the file yourself from the Computers tab of Tally connection in your own FactoryPulse AI account.
- Chrome says the file is not commonly downloaded: open the download list, choose Keep, then Keep anyway.
- Windows says Windows protected your PC: click More info, then Run anyway.
- Windows says an Application Control policy or Smart App Control blocked the file: open Settings, then Privacy and security, then Windows Security, then App and browser control, then Smart App Control settings, and switch it Off for this computer. Windows does not let you switch it back on later without resetting the computer, so ask whoever looks after your computers first if you are not sure.
- A company-managed computer may block it by policy. Ask your IT person to allow the FactoryPulse Agent.
After it is connected
The Computers tab of Tally connection shows your computer with its version, and the figures start to arrive within a few minutes. The connector keeps itself up to date and starts again by itself after the computer restarts. TallyPrime must be open with your company open on the computer for new entries to be read.
If the figures stop arriving
- The Overview tab of Tally connection says Not reading Tally and gives the reason: usually TallyPrime is closed, the company is not open, or a second TallyPrime window is the one in use.
- Nothing is lost while it cannot read. Entries are read as soon as the company is open in the right window.
- If it still does not work, use the Contact page and tell us what the Overview tab of Tally connection says.
