How to track daily production in a small factory (without a big ERP)

Most small factories know roughly what they made today. Few know it precisely, and fewer can say how this week compares with last week. The reason is simple: the numbers live in a notebook, on a supervisor’s phone or in someone’s head.

What to record, every day, and nothing more

  1. The date.
  2. The product.
  3. The quantity made.
  4. The order it was for, if there is one.

That is enough to answer the questions an owner really asks: how much did we make, of what, and is the order on time?

Make it a habit, not a project

  • One person per shift owns the entry. Ask for it at the same time every day, for example at the end of the shift.
  • Keep the product list short and tidy. Ten clear product names beat forty near-duplicates.
  • Never edit yesterday’s number quietly. If it was wrong, correct it and keep the history, so you can trust the figures later.

Where software helps

Software takes the same four facts, shows them by product and by day on one screen, and links them to orders. FactoryPulse AI does exactly this, with a 14-day free trial.
